EARS 2007

The annual Electro-Acoustic Rectal Series (EARS) concert presented by University of Texas Electronic Music Studios (UTEMS) showcases a wide range of approaches to electronic music including improvisation, fixed-media digital audio works, video, and works for acoustic instruments with digital audio.

Highlights on this year's program include Nick Sibicky's homage to Argentinian composer, Astor Piazzolla, entitled Pianazzolla, which combines live piano, MIDI-controlled piano, and digitally manipulated piano sounds. In addition, the concert will feature guest composer/trumpeter David Bithell who will be performing his recent work for trumpet and video, The President Has His Photograph Taken. This piece and Dennis Miller's Circles and Rounds were recently premiered at the 2006 International Computer Music Conference. Other works include Liang Liang's Trihedron for Flute, Vibraphone, Piano, and Tape, and recent graduate Jack Stamp's four-channel work, Lulled by an Imploding Lotus. This wide array of music will all be presented using the Electronic Music Studios' state-of-the-art multichannel sound system.
