ACCESS:

The Building monitor has one copy of the key for each studio, as well as a master key for use by the building monitor. To obtain the key to a particular studio, you must:

RULES:

NOTES:

  1. You are personally responsible for both the key and the respective studio/equipment while your ID is in the monitor’s possession. Never remove a studio key from this building for any reason. If there is a breach of security, all the studios must be re-keyed; this is very expensive, and the person responsible will pay the bill. Do not lend the key to anyone. Return it to the monitor when you have finished your session. If you cannot find the monitor, but have to leave, then lock the key in the studio and come back for your ID at another time.

  1. The studio alarms are armed automatically during hours when the building is closed. If you are not out of the labs by the time they arm, you will trigger the alarm, the police will come, and they will not be amused. If you do end up setting off the alarms, you must call the police (1-4441) immediately, tell them you are a student and explain what happened. Then wait for them to arrive and be respectful. They are just doing their job. But even better, get out of the labs on time so you don't set off the alarm!

  1. It should not be necessary to say that we are all dependent on each other here -- no amount of security precautions can suffice to protect us from members of our own user community who are either careless or unscrupulous. We have no insurance on any of this equipment or software and we have a very limited budget that must cover repairs and replacements, as well as new acquisitions. We rely on the "honor system" and it has worked pretty well so far; let's keep it that way.

Thanks for your cooperation.
