Assigning Devices in Cubase SX
- Click
on the "Devices" menu at the top of the screen, and then
"MIDI Device Manager"
- Then
in the pop-up window, click "Install Device"
- Scroll
down and select "DX7 II (Yamaha)"
- Click
"Install Device" again and select "MU 50 (Yamaha)" and
once again selecting "K2000 (Kurzweil)"
- After
all 3 have been listed in the "Installed Devices" column in the
"MIDI Device Manager,
- Highlight
each one and change the "Output" box (black box sort of in the
middle) to the following:
- DX7 - Port 3 on MTPAV (Emulated)
- MU
50 - Port 4 on MTPAV (Emulated)
- K2000
- Port 7 on MTPAV (Emulated)
- Close
the "MIDI Device Manager" and go back to your project.
Notes:
- Once
you do this in your own MML account, you should never need to do this
again.
- In any
MIDI track that you create, you can now assign the "Out" to any
of the three synths we just defined.
- In
additon, after selecting a particular synth, we can pick individual sounds
by clicking on the bank tab
- (by
default it says "Off" and is located right below the
"out" and "channel" tabs.
- When
working with different sounds to be played on the same device, be sure to
select different channels!
